Here is a preview of some of the men’s matches lined up for Sunday at the Madrid Open.
Borna Coric v/s Mikhail Kukushkin
They played once in Rome last year which was won by Mikhail in hard fought 3 sets. However, Coric won the Grand Prix Hassan in April this year and should win this one too.
Winner: Coric in 2
Andreas Seppi v/s Pierre-Hugues Herbert
Although Seppi leads their H2H 1-0, neither is however a contender on clay and anyone could win this outing between them.
Winner: Seppi in 3
Adrian Mannarino v/s Santiago Giraldo
Santiago leads in their H2H by 1-0 but Adrian is having a better season on clay and has won 5 of 6 matches on dirt so far, and therefore stands a better chance to win this meeting between them.
Winner: Adrian in 3
Dennis Istomin v/s Jared Donaldson
These two have never met in a match but the advantage may go to Jared Donaldson on this one as he has won 3 of his last 5 on clay and 7 out of the last 10 matches this year.
Winner: Donaldson in 3
Andrey Kuznetsov v/s Lukas Lacko
Luvas Lacko won their only meeting in Dubai in 2014 however, Andrey has been doing well lately and has won 5 out of 7 matches on clay including a win over Fabio Fognini. However, Lucas just beat Dolgopolov to reach this round. The advantage on this one goes by a real small margin to Andrey.
Winner: Kuznetsov in 3
