Bernard Tomic’s Embarrassing First Round Defeat

Bernard Tomic is out in the first round of Wimbledon, in what many people called, a shameful defeat. It wasn’t exactly how he played, but the way he played that was extremely embarrassing and lackluster. It was so bad, that prominent Australian tennis figures, like Pat Cash, are cringing and unhappy with the way that Bernard is playing.

Bernard Tomic himself admits to feeling ‘bored’ out there on court, after his loss to Mischa Zverev in simple straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4. Bernard even said that he could care less about his Grand Slam performances.

Honestly, shameful words to hear from a tennis player.

“He can do a lot worse to than that to ruin the image we’ve created,” said Pat Cash. “But a lot of ex-players are cringing, Aussies, especially the guys who started this pro circuit. We wouldn’t be here without these guys.”

Martina Navratilova also had some harsh words for Tomic.

“It’s disrespectful to the sport and disrespectful to the history of the sport. If you can’t get motivated at Wimbledon it’s time to find another job. The spectators paid good money to come here and watch Wimbledon and the guy shows up and doesn’t try, he can’t be bothered. Just stay home.

Leading Australian tennis coach Roger Rasheed said that Tomic needs some help and support, but is not sure where Tomic will be able to get it from.

It seems like in this case, Tomic will have to find a way to help himself a little it first, before anyone else is able to help him.

During his first round match, Tomic did complain of a back injury, but later in his interview said it wasn’t really that big a deal, and that the biggest problem he was having was a mental problem.

“It was definitely a mental issue out there,” said Tomic. “I don’t know why, but I felt a little bored out there, to be completely honest with you. So I feel holding a trophy or doing well, it doesn’t satisfy me anymore.”

“To me, everything is the same. I’m going to play another 10 years, and I know after my career I won’t have to work again.”

Well Tomic, that’s only if you can continue any meager excuse of a career with this attitude, right?
