Why isn’t Djokovic in a rush?

Djokovic is at crossroads in his illustrious career.  He wants to press the “reset” button on his career with some help from a super coach again.

In Djokovic’s own words, “I also know that I’ll not stay by myself without a tennis coach for too long, I assume it is going to be someone that has been through similar experiences like I have. Not too many people in the past of tennis have managed to get to that stage and play at that level, so I’ll see.“

Djokovic believes that hiring a super coach can bring back the glory days, whereas the reality is that changing the mindset to “super-aggressive” and learning to “approach the net” are the only two medicines to be prescribed to cure his tennis related ailments and add a couple more years to a career which will be done and dusted, at least as a slam winner, around his 31st birthday.   However, I also believe that it’d be near impossible for Novak to either develop a super-aggressive mindset or learn to approach the net properly at this age.  How can someone who has spent the last 22 or more years practicing to prolong  points, rather than finish them, now turn into Federer all of a sudden?  And, the only effective way to extend longevity, as a top 5 player in pro tennis, after the 30th birthday is by shortening points.  Further, if Becker couldn’t teach Novak to approach the net properly then who could?

Djokovic is no Federer and when people quote Federer’s level of play at 35 as a reason why Djokovic could also play at the highest level at least until then, they forget that Federer is not another run and fetch the ball kind of player and his longevity is a direct result of his propensity to keep points short and thereby the wear and tear to the body at its very minimum.

Novak further said “I’m thinking slowly and thoroughly about it. I don’t want to take things with a rush.”

If Novak sincerely believes that a super coach could solve his problems then he would be best advised to find one as soon as possible because he may not be in a rush but time doesn’t wait for anyone and especially for a tennis player who is not only nearing his 30th birthday but is also habitual of prolonging points.

If Federer had REAL commetition when he was younger, he wouldn’t be able to play at 35 like he does today.
    Just sayin’ the obvious.

Ahaha.. good joke… nobody is buying your obvious except for Nadtards… you are pathetic… Federer is a genius and he dominated when he was young like no one did… 237 consecutive weeks #1… He has faced Agassi had has 8-3 h2h, beaten Sampras and Nadal was very much there with his first GS title at 2005 RG… but Nadal couldn’t do much to dislodge Federer from # 1 and he holds the record for being #2 for most time.

Just imagine if a fit Federer at 35, could beat Nadal in AO 2017… then how he would have played in this prime 22 – 28 yrs age.
